Note: depending on the level of our corporation's participation, our website may not contain information about the projects that are carried out mostly by our business partners.
At an affordable licensing fee, we partner with secondary schools, art education businesses, and universities and customize educational programs and events based on our music, art works, and gaming contents, so that students, parents, and faculties are delighted by our arts and inspired to become citizens.
"Two-week to Melodies" Project
This extracurricular program allows 20 to 40 students with certain levels of music instrument proficiency to deliver a multimedia concert featuring Mass Island's music and movies as a student orchestra. Students do not need to pay additional fees to us. Two to three onsite student rehearsals per week are expected. Depending on our partner's situations and wishes, the student concert may take place on campus or off campus in their local communities. Our experiences and skills in concert management and event organization will also be taught to participating students, in our sincere wishes that some of them will become planners, organizers, and leaders in the future.
However, a masterful concert is never the purpose. Instead, students are expected to make new friends, discover the shining qualities of people around them, collaborate as a team, do their best, and most importantly, have fun, enjoy the process, and immerse themselves in the beauty of our original music and arts. Also depending on our partner's situations and wishes, either Mass Island staff instructors or our partner's like-minded instructors may take primary responsibilities organizing and directing this program. We particularly target this program to students whose education lacks patience, diversity, and trust. We anticipate our students to overcome challenges, and we always invigorate them and embrace their mistakes. We cheer for their accomplishment, but we cheer more for their hard work along the way.
"Semester in Music" Project
This program may be carried out in the form of a curricular, for-credit course or an extracurricular, semester-long (or year-long) program, which also allows 20 to 40 students with certain levels of music instrument proficiency to deliver a multimedia concert as a student orchestra. We customize and license such course designs for universities and high schools. However, students are expected to produce their own original music and video game movie, and through the process, gain much more knowledge and skills in music, architecture, motion picture, urban planning, team collaboration, and more. Students are expected to meet once or twice per week for seminars, panel discussions, practice/rehearsal sessions, as well as team building activities or even field trips.
The educational goals and forms of events of Semester in Music are similar to those of our summer camps, with the differences being that students do not meet daily and that no catering and accommodations will be provided.
Mass Island Teaching Assistant Project (MITAP)
Music- and movie-based Minecraft gaming, or even a simple Minecraft virtual city, can be powerful education tools. We customize Minecraft-based gaming contents to assist our client's teaching activities. For instances, law schools may seek assistance from Mass Island to customize Minecraft animations so as to simplify the abstract property law terms, such as "easement" and "cumulative zoning", for students. We also provide educational and art event planning service for secondary schools and universities, such as campus art festivals. Our event planning service consists of both one-time and long-term solutions. We particularly specialize in planning campus events that reoccur periodically—based on our experiences, reoccurring art events can build a diverse campus art "ecosystem" filled with student-initiated creations and innovations, and in this process, students are educated not only on their art skills, but also the qualities and awareness to be citizens.
Mass Island also advocates and actively assists hands-on and experimental learning. A virtual-reality Minecraft world allows students to gain useful knowledge, understand the real world better, and most importantly, make mistakes without real-world consequences. For instance, we highly recommend and are capable of customizing a Minecraft virtual world where our client's students can learn how the real-world government body works by trying virtual careers and managing the virtual towns, counties, and states.
