We license our intellectual properties, especially our music and art works, to individuals and business/government entities at a fee, so that not only The Mass Island Orchestra, but also more and more music enthusiasts, audiences, and communities can share the beauty of original music and arts with us.
Licensing fees are significantly discounted for nonprofit entities and full-time students.
The same discounts apply to any individual or entity who intends to use our intellectual properties for charitable purposes (such as a fundraising concert for people who recently lost their homes in an earthquake) as well.
Depending on our corporation's financial situations, at least a small portion of our licensing fee will be donated to charities of our choice for every licensing agreement we enter into.
To be licensed to use Mass Island intellectual properties, please contact legal@massisland.org and state the following:
(1) your legal identity, which must be (i) natural person(s), if general partnership, all partners, (ii) a registered business entity, or (iii) a government entity within the United States. An organization not capable of being sued may not be licensed any Mass Island intellectual property, such as a college student club.
A student club may be licensed Mass Island intellectual property by entering into a licensing agreement between Mass Island and (i) natural person(s) as individual(s) in the club or (ii) the club's faculty advisor or a qualified school official.
(2) briefly, your purpose of obtaining the license, plus your plan to use our intellectual properties.
A good example: "to hold a free, outdoor community concert at Newton City Park on October 1, 2010, where all pieces from the "Minecraft Reimagined" album will be performed by Newton Philharmonic, under Newton Philharmonic, Inc".
(3) your proposed essential terms of the licensing agreement, if any.
Our Contract & Licensing Manager (CLM) and our outside counsel will then contact you for more discussions within 2 days. Some intellectual properties might be owned wholly or partly by our employee(s), and the corporation must obtain their individual consent before entering into any agreement affecting their rights.
Please be aware that any event, concert, program or project that uses our intellectual property but is not organized, planned, or held by us may not be named "Mass Island". For example, only the corporation's concert may be named "Mass Island Concert 2024: [ALBUM NAME]", while any other concert organizer who is licensed our music may only name their concert as "[ALBUM NAME]".
